CURRENT HOOVER ARTS COUNCIL MEMBERS

​ PAULETTE PEARSON: Paulette served 32 years as a College Admissions Counselor for Hoover schools. She was appointed to the Hoover School Board and served on that board for several terms. Paulette comes from a family that appreciates and participates in the arts. She is a member of a number of Hoover organizations which include Aldridge Gardens, Hoover Service Club, and the Autism Association. Many of Paulette’s family including children and grandchildren currently reside in Hoover.

​ SANDRA FULLER: Sandra is a professional artist and an art instructor. She taught art at UAH, Huntsville High School, Randolph School, and the Huntsville Art Museum before moving to Hoover. Sandra’s paintings have been honored in 25 juried national exhibitions and over 40 one woman and group exhibitions. Sandra has worked with the State of Alabama on billboards that have displayed her images through the Alabama State Council on the Arts. ​ ​
​
​LINDA CHASTAIN: Linda has been a resident of Hoover for over 50 years. She is a co-founder of the Hoover Arts Alliance which has for the past 10 years provided scholarships to graduating seniors of both Hoover high schools who plan to major in an art discipline at the college. The HAA also provides grants to Aldridge Gardens, the Fine Arts Department of the Hoover Library, the Combat Veterans Center for art therapy classes, and local schools to encourage and support art events and programs. She brings 10 years of experience in working with local art groups to provide art experiences at all levels to the citizens of Hoover. Linda has been a vocal advocate for the building of a performance/art center in the city for over 15 years. ​ ​

​JULIE PRESKITT: Julie is the current president of the Bluff Park Art Association. They just completed one of the most successful art shows ever. ​ ​
​
​PAM SAYLE: Pam has been devoted to the dance for the past 23 years when she opened her dance studio, The Alabama Dance Academy in Hoover. Many of her students have gone on to perform with professional ballet and contemporary companies throughout the country. Pam herself has danced professionally with a number of recognized dance companies. She brings a wealth of experience in the performing arts and has over the years cultivated contacts with those at the forefront of dance. Her oldest son is an actor in New York City and her other two children are currently enrolled in Hoover Schools. Pam serves on the board of directors of the Alabama Dance Council. She is the Council’s ‘go to person’ for dance and performance information. ​ ​
​
​TRICIA SIMPSON: Tricia is the Operations Manager for the Birmingham Boys Choir. She also serves on her church’s student ministry and is on the Board of the Hoover High School Choir Boosters. Tricia has lived in Hoover for 18 years and their children are members of multiple choral programs through their schools, church, and community. ​ ​
​
​CURT POSEY: Curt is the City Council Liaison and has been a strong supporter of the arts in Hoover. He is a graduate of Hoover High School and has children involved in local dance and drama programs. ​
​
​​MATINA JOHNSON: Matina is the Fine Arts Director of the Hoover Library. She has extensive experience in marketing both visual and performing arts. The library is the cultural center of Hoover and has the only city owned theater which is open to all the citizens of Hoover. She is responsible for the 5 art galleries which are a part of the Hoover Library as well as bringing shows and performers to the Library Theater. Matina serves as Fine Arts Consultant to the Hoover Arts Council.
