To join the Hoover Senior Center, you will need to join in person at the Hoover Senior Center on 400 Municipal Drive Hoover, AL 35216. Membership is available to those 55 and up. We accept registration between 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM Monday through Friday. You would need to be prepared to show your identification, proof of residency and pay your membership fee (cash or check only).
No, non-residents may purchase non-resident membership for an annual fee of $25 that allows you to participate in the programs and activities offered at this facility only. The Hoover Recreation Center is not included with this membership.
Yes, daily meals are provided through a grant program funded by Jefferson County. To be eligible for the meal program you must be at least 60 years of age and a resident of Jefferson County. Donations for meals are accepted. There are a limited number of meals available each day. A form must be filled out in order to participate in the program.
Many of our classes operate on a first come first serve basis and you would not need to enroll and would only require you to check in at the Welcome Desk upon entry to the Center.
For classes and events that do require your enrollment, they will be identified as such in the description portion of our newsletter or flyer. To actually pre-register, you may do so via in person, via phone call and/ or email if no registration fee is required. For programs requesting additional fees, our staff and/or volunteers at our Welcome Desk will either accept payment or give you specifics. Correct change if paying in cash is always appreciated.
To get evaluated to participate in the advanced active classes, you would need to arrive early to class, introduce yourself to the instructor and explain your current level of fitness. (If needed, you may want to ask your doctor to give you fitness restrictions so that you could self-monitor, doing only what your doctor releases you to do.)
No, our hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM-4:00 PM except on Holidays. Please see a listing of the Holidays on the main page.
